What spurred this spontaneous romp? Well, first off, my girlfriend, Scout, and I had just reached our 1 year anniversary. Now, we had not planned anything for this day, because KC Pride is two weeks later, and that was going to be our 1 year celebration. However, when the day came around (May 24) we felt a dire need to do something to celebrate our year of homosexual love, so we drove to Lucas, Kansas, like anyone would have done.
At first I suggested we buy a paper plate and write "Happy 1 Year" on it. (that's a joke because every so many years you buy a plate of increasing value to denote the passage of years in a relationship. Thus, the one year would be the least expensive, so it's made of paper. ha. ha.) Anyway, that was what came in second to going to Lucas. It was a pretty tough race.
To continue with the synopsis, Lucas is not just some random town that we ended up in after wandering the wide open plains for four hours, no, it's the Grassroots Art Capital of The Midwest, very SWANK. We get free public television, and our favorite show on there is Rare Visions and Roadside Revelations. The concept of the show is these three "TV Weasels" travel across America visiting every roadside anomaly they come across (anyone for the worlds largest ball of twine?). Lucas is one of their favorite places.
SO, what does this rambling have to do with Jukebox Comix? Well, hearken, as I will now tell you! Issue 3 is going to be a one-shot of sorts. It will contain the entire hair raising, mind melting tale that is our trip to Lucas. It will be one to show the grandchildrens.
I'm excited about it, aren't you, my fan(s)?
Anyway, other things to sum up since my last post. FREE CON ROCKED! I learned allot there from some guys that call themselves Three Trees Studios . They taught me about online publishing sites and places that sell independent comicry, as well as plenty of life lessons. Most notably a quote attributed to Ernest Hemingway, "I only write when I'm inspired, luckily, I'm inspired everyday at 9 a.m." Meaning, always work, even when you don't feel like it. Because being an artist, or writer, or what-have-you, is work. Inspiration comes while your working, not when you wait around for it. Also, that making money from comic-work when you start is a benefit, usually, at first, you just lose it. Mostly, I learned that what's important is that my work gets out there, not that I make money right away. Basically, they were my free-con dads.
If anyone wants a copy of Jukebox Comix Issue2, just email me or message me on facebook, and it's yours, but, if you'd rather pay for it please do.

1. I will be posting chapter one of Birdo Grimes Makes the Choice and maybe some other material i haven't deemed worthy enough to put in issue 1 or 2.
2. On the 19th, I will be putting up a link for making purchase of issue 2 of the fabulous comic known as Jukebox. This is to be repeated each month on the 19th until the sun essploads.
3. Perhaps, on the 22nd, I might be selling my comic wares at the Freestate Free-con in Lawrence, KS. However, that is only if my illicit offers to the chief organizer of the convention are accepted. (If not, there's always next year, go ahead and mark that on your calendars as well, people)
These things shall come to pass.
Ok, so things to look forward to in way of content of the up coming issues! Issue 2 contains BG: Chapter 2 of course, as well as a comic on The Secrets of Old Houses! Spooky! It also contains a comic called Crisco Kitty which is about the life of lame Hipster cat in the Big City. (this may or may not become a series, depending on whether I muster any more material that can equal the first installment for *something*) It also contains the long awaited short graphic story entitled MOON CROWD. This one, this one, you should definitely see.
Issue three is still a little hazy as to the exact line up, but it is probably going to contain, in addition to BG: Chapter 3, the beginning of a story about a man called The Heartlander. No this is not a sequel/prequel to Highlander. It also will contain a story about a two-headed girl called Janice (for the Roman god of entryways called Janus), my personal favorite. It also will contain a more traditional style comic strip called Illegal Aliens (about real aliens! how novel!)
So the disorientation continues in the fast-approaching continuation of the Jukebox Saga!
May your seed be blessed and your wombs be ripe,
